11/24/2008 - Have DTV questions? We have DTV answers

DTV Answers logoHave a question about digital television and how it will affect you? More than 1,700 viewers across our viewing areas certainly did during the live statewide broadcast of DTV Answers on November 20th at 8:00/7:00 p.m. MT/PT. Host Joan Cartan-Hansen and her guests — IdahoPTV General Manger Peter Morrill, Director of Technology Rich Van Genderen and IdahoPTV's first Director of Engineering Vaun McArthur — answered questions about the digital conversion. Our technical staff was also on hand during the show and throughout the evening to offer live help on individual DTV questions.

We also answered email questions sent to dtv@idahoptv.org. IdahoPTV's technical staff began taking viewers' calls during the show and afterwards until 11:00/10:00 p.m. MT/PT.

We covered many issues: What converter box should you buy? How do you order a coupon to purchase a converter box? How do you hook up a converter box? What kind of antenna do you need? What should you consider when you buy a new digital TV? What is the difference between a transmitter and a translator?

If you would like to see the entire program check out our Digital Transition site at http://idahoptv.org/dtv/

We've scheduled another live DTV Answers show for Friday, January 9, 2009.

Bettis, Emmett, president of the foundation that his great aunt founded, accepted the award. The ceremony took place at the PBS Development Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

"Since 1984, the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation's support has helped make us a valued statewide resource," said Kim Philipps, director of marketing and development for IdahoPTV. "The foundation shares our vision for meeting the needs of the community, and we are fortunate to have their friendship, interest and financial support."

Throughout more than two decades, the foundation has made possible statewide public affairs programming such as Idaho Reports, a weekly show focusing on state legislative issues, and Dialogue, Idaho's only statewide public affairs call-in program. D4K: Dialogue For Kids, a monthly science call-in show for elementary students, and Outdoor Idaho, the series that showcases Idaho and its citizens, are also on the air because of the support of the foundation, Philipps noted. She also pointed out that the foundation has been extremely helpful in preparing IdahoPTV for the upcoming February 17 digital transition by providing critical funding for upgraded equipment, studio lighting, set and cameras.
